Wes Welker talks about Julian Edelman mooching off Tom Brady’s brand

No two players in the NFL have a stronger bromance than Tom Brady and Julian Edelman, and the man who used to be considered Brady’s favorite target has taken note.

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker joined the “Toucher and Rich Show” on 98.5 The Sports Hub Tuesday, and the hosts asked him about the relationship between Brady and Edelman. To be fair, Welker was basically agreeing that Edelman tries to mimic everything Brady does off the field. He seemed to have no problem talking about it, though.

“It’s a little too obvious,” Welker said, via CBS Boston. “I think it’s been noticed. I don’t know, I think it’s like going and getting Advil, and then there’s like the Walgreens prescription next to it.”

He’s not wrong. Brady’s brand is called TB12. Guess what brand Edelman came out with after Brady’s launched? JE11. After Brady was present for the meeting between the Boston Celtics and Kevin Durant, Edelman got in on the recruiting by sharing this photo on social media. More recently, Edelman posted a photoshopped image on Twitter pretending he was hanging out with Brady and Justin Timberlake at UFC 200.

It should be noted that the admiration is quite mutual. Brady seems to love Edelman just as much as Edelman loves him. Heck, the two have even flirted with one another on Facebook.

According to Welker, Edelman openly admits he rides Brady’s coattails. If you’re going to ride someone’s coattails, why not ride Tom Brady’s?
