Tiger Woods Breaks Course Record at The Medalist During Practice Round
Breaking news: Tiger Woods has been struggling. The former No. 1 golfer in the universe has lost a major step. You can blame it on injuries or blame it on the never-ending scandal that has surrounded his life, but we all know Tiger’s golf game is the worst it has ever been since he stepped into the national spotlight. How else could you explain him not qualifying for his own golf tournament?
There are those like Nick Faldo who believe Tiger Woods’ best days are behind him while others like Ian Baker-Finch insist Woods will soon return to the top of the rankings. On Friday, Tiger gave us a reminder that his actual skills have not diminished.
According to Tim Rasaforte on Twitter via Devil Ball Golf, Tiger broke a course record at The Medalist in Florida Friday when he shot a 62. Woods broke the former record of 64 by making seven birdies on the back nine.
This confirms what we already believed: Tiger has a confidence issue. If he can go out on a Friday afternoon in a pressure-free environment and shoot a 62, Woods obviously still has the physical tools needed to get back to the top. The question is whether or not he can get over the mental hump that has kept him missing cuts and playing horrible golf over the past year. Perhaps proving to himself that he still has it will help.
