The uncertainty regarding LIV Golf has now added a new chapter.
On Tuesday, LIV Golf filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Here’s part of what the documents said.
“LIV Golf has entered a court-supervised restructuring process that provides us with the time and framework to address previous financial obligations and complete a transaction that will make the league’s next phase a reality.”

Among the numerous things the league announced is plans for LIV 2.0, which include 75-player fields, cuts and Monday qualifiers for more pathways to the league
The CEO of the league, Scott O’Neil, released a lengthy statement on the move to file for bankruptcy.

At the beginning of August, it was reported that LIV Golf found a new investor in an effort to keep the league going. This came on the heels of the Saudi Public Investment Fund pulling its funding after four years.
This is expected to cause a massive domino effect, with big-name golfers including Jon Rahm, Phil Mickelson, and Bryson DeChambeau all part of the league. Brooks Koepka also used to be part of the league before announcing he was leaving at the end of December.
