File this close to the NFL heading to London section. Only difference, at least they play hockey in Europe — just not London. Right, because if your sport is struggling in your country, why not go to another country and see if it catches on, right? For those of you dying to get your hockey fix in England…
The NHL will bring bring Canada’s game — albeit with a pair of California teams — to England in September to kick off the league’s regular season schedule.
The Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings will become the first teams in league history to play regular season games in Europe when they play Sept. 29 and 30 at London’s 02 Arena. The weekend games are scheduled for 12 p.m. EDT.
Honest to goodness, the NHL is actual useful because every month or so it seems as if they have these dumbass schemes that are so easy to pick on. Much like their planned expansion to Vegas, this is another brilliant idea. Right, because I can’t think of anything I’d rather do while in London or Las Vegas than watch NHL games. Now that’s the ticket.

Maybe actually trying to build up the rivalry in, I don’t know, Southern California by having the game in Southern California would make sense.
[...] Latest stupid Bettman idea: having the Kings and Ducks play in London next year. Can the NHL work on the U.S. first before trying to conquer Europe? [Larry Brown Sports] [...]
Yeah, you would think, considering how big the rivalry is starting to become.
Ducks and Kings aren’t exactly the best represenatitves for the league, nor the most popular of the teams in the league. It would have been better if they brought over the Leafs, Canadiens, Red Wings, the Nucks, Avs, the Rangers, or even the Wild (alot of Brits post in their boards too) to England instead. These teams are infinitely more popular than those So Cal teams.
