The Vegas Golden Knights improbably reached the Stanley Cup Finals in their first season of existence, rolling their way through the postseason.
After knocking out the Kings and Sharks, the Winnipeg Jets were next up on their list. The Golden Knights won the series in five games, closing things out with a 2-1 win on Sunday. Ryan Reaves scored the tie-breaking goal for Vegas — his first of the postseason.
Though Reaves has not been with the team long, he’s been with them long enough to know their inside joke about the team’s nickname.
“We call ourselves the Golden Misfits for a reason. We’ve proven everyone else wrong all season,” Reaves said after the game, via TSN’s Frank Seravalli.

Call them what you want, the Golden Knights have been doing work all season long. They finished with the third-most points in the Western Conference during the regular season, and have now reached the Stanley Cup Finals. Not bad at all.
