Report: Ryan Lochte has past charges of public urination, disorderly conduct

Ryan Lochte is at odds with Brazilian authorities over his allegations that he and three U.S. swimming teammates were robbed in Rio at a gas station. Rio police say Lochte and his teammates caused damage in a gas station bathroom and urinated outside the station. The men admitted to being drunk.

Given the events from the weekend, it may not surprise you to learn that in the past, Lochte was charged with public urination and disorderly conduct for separate incidents.

Radar Online reported earlier this month that Lochte was cited in 2010 by University of Florida police for disorderly conduct after he fought with others. The case was dismissed after Lochte agreed to pay a fine or do community service.

In 2005, Lochte was picked up for public urination and was said to be drunk at the time.

“I observed Mr. Lochte urinating between two vehicles. I could also smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him. Mr. Lochte was refereed to Judicial Affairs for this incident,” an officer wrote about the incident.

Lochte ended up completing his end of a prosecution deal to get rid of the charges.

Past crimes are not supposed to be used as character evidence in evaluating a current allegation, but these revelations certainly will not help Lochte’s public image.

Here’s the video from the gas station where the incident took place. Lochte reportedly says that video has been edited to omit a key section.
