Jonathan Papelbon gets Carlos Ruiz with tremendous boob grab to celebrate walk-off HR

Jonathan Papelbon Carlos Ruiz grab

Sometimes when you’re celebrating a walk-off home run, you just lose it and anything can happen. There is no sense of order and nothing is out-of-bounds or off-limits during those beautiful moments of elation. And for Jonathan Papelbon, he decided to get a little touchy-feely on Wednesday night.

When Ryan Howard hit a 3-run walk-off home run for the Phillies to beat the Rockies, Pap was so excited he clutched catcher Carlos Ruiz by the meat of the young man’s chest. It was beautiful. We’ll call it a lucky Chooch boob grab.

Below is video of Howard’s big walk-off blast:

Howard now has 9 home runs and 34 RBIs on the season. Papelbon got his first win thanks to the homer, and he also racked up his first bosom clutch as well. Pretty good all-around evening for the Phils.

Carlos Ruiz Out with Bruised Testicle

What can we say? We have the sense of humor of a few six-year-old boys here at LBS. Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz missed Wednesday night’s game because of a left testicle contusion. He got hurt after getting hit in the schnuts by a foul ball Tuesday. Chooch managed to catch the final three innings of that game but it acted up the next day, forcing him to take a game off.

“He kind of got hit in the family jewels,” Manuel said of Ruiz Wednesday.

Brian Schneider caught for the Phillies and went 1-for-3 in their 9-2 win Wednesday night. I’d suggest Ruiz try out one of those NuttyBuddy cups, but apparently they’re not too reliable.

It’s probably no surprise that this isn’t the first testicle injury we’ve covered here at LBS. It certainly won’t be the last, but my favorite ball injury story all-time remains this one.
