Carlos Ruiz leaves farewell message for teammates
On Thursday, Carlos Ruiz was traded from the Phillies to the Dodgers. Before leaving, he had a few final words for his teammates.
Ruiz was drafted by the Phillies back in 1998 and since breaking into the majors in 2006, Philadelphia is the only team he’s played for. It’s understandable departing would be emotional for the 37-year-old catcher as he’s made a lot of friends throughout the organization during his time with the club. For his teammates, Ruiz left a thoughtful message on a whiteboard in the clubhouse wishing them luck the remainder of the season.

While with the Phillies, Ruiz caught four no-hitters and was part of the team that won the World Series in 2008. The roster may look vastly different now, but there’s little doubt Ruiz will be missed just as he’ll miss those who took the field with him.
