Evan Longoria Flirting with Alex Morgan? Invites Her to Rays Game over Twitter

If you fell in love with some of the U.S. women’s soccer players over the past few weeks, don’t worry. You’re not alone. Rays third baseman Evan Longoria seems to have caught the bug and even invited the team to hang out at a Rays game. Longoria directed his tweet to one particular individual, soccer star Alex Morgan:

Morgan wrote back some time later saying “let’s do it!” so it seems like she’s down.

See, this is the exact sort of thing about which we warned Servando Carrasco (Alex’s boyfriend) should be worried. Not only are the two on opposite ends of the country, but now Morgan will be in the public spotlight. She’ll be facing much more temptation than the lame marriage proposals on her facebook page.

Although I must admit, with this funky haircut Longo has going, I’m not so sure Carrasco should be worried.

Evan Longoria Rocking the ‘Wild Thing’ Haircut (Picture)

So this is what it takes to get a Major League ballplayer to finally honor Ricky Vaughn?  Normally when we show you funny haircuts it has something to do with a logo shaved into a head, like this one from Tony Allen, this one from a delusional die-hard Brewers fan, or this hilarious Family Guy logo that Tracy Porter had for the NFL playoffs.  It may have taken a steroid admission and potential scratch from the Indians Hall of Fame, but Evan Longoria decided to bite the bullet and pay homage to “Wild Thing” on Tuesday night.  Check out this picture of Evan Longoria’s Wild Thing haircut, courtesy of The Big Lead:

It would have been a lot better if a closer rocked the Vaughn cut, but someone had to do it.  H/T to @RaysIndex for the pic.

Thieves Rob Home of Evan Longoria, David Price and Reid Brignac, Hit Jackpot

When thieves robbed the home that David Price, Evan Longoria, and Reid Brignac rent on Saturday, they made off with just about everything you would expect. We have no idea how much evidence was left behind or if police will catch the men who broke into their Bradenton home, but from the look of it the process was well-planned.

According to the St. Petersburg Times, the house was broken into in the middle of the day when all three men were at a game next door at Charlotte Sports Park.  One would have to assume the culprits knew exactly whose home they were robbing, or they probably would not have attempted it in broad daylight.  As of now, they must be satisfied with the results.

The thieves made off with a 60-inch flat screen TV, three iPads, two Xbox systems, headphones, a laptop, and several expensive watches.  Price told reporters that his estimated loss alone was around $50,000.  Police are exploring the idea that the crime was committed by some people who stopped at the house earlier in the week to ask if it would be available to rent soon.

“The good thing was that nobody was there and nobody got hurt and everything is material that we can replace,” Brignac said. “It’s very unfortunate that people would stoop that low. That’s what we get for being trusting, kind people. These random people came up and we could have been like, ‘No, y’all get out of here.’ “

Evan Longoria and B.J. Upton Get Into it

It’s always a shame anytime we post an item about teammates getting into a dust-up. Much like Hanley Ramirez who had to be reprimanded for being lazy going after a ball, Rays third baseman Evan Longoria confronted center fielder B.J. Upton who coasted for a ball hit in the left-center gap on Sunday. Rusty Ryal got a triple on the play and Gerardo Parra homered next, so luckily the play didn’t really affect the boxscore, but I’m sure the Rays now have an issue to address. Here’s a video of the Evan Longoria and B.J. Upton fight in the dugout via The Big Lead:

The only way I give Upton a partial excuse for the play is if he’s playing hurt, but even if that’s the case then he shouldn’t be in the lineup considering he’s down to .223 on the year and batting 7th. As long as you’re out there, you should be giving everything you have and it didn’t look like Upton was. Typically you’d prefer to see that sort of thing be addressed inside the clubhouse rather than in the dugout in front of television cameras, but at least it’s a good sign that Longoria won’t put up with that crap on his team. These guys just got no-hit and then two-hit Sunday so they need to do everything possible to keep up in the AL East. There’s no room for not hustling.
