Colin Kaepernick will wear a Miami Dolphins hat whether the fans like it or not

Colin Kaepernick Dolphins hat

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was seen partying on July 4 wearing a Miami Dolphins hat. Naturally, Kaepernick wearing an opposing team’s hat led to scrutiny and complaints from fans.

Though most players would apologize and beg the fans for forgiveness, Kaep took a different approach. The quarterback responded to the backlash with an Instagram posting that included the photo below and this note:

Charles Johnson Angers Panthers Fans by Wearing Falcons Hat (Picture)

Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson saw Dan Akroyd when he was out last night and took a picture with the actor. Johnson tweeted the picture to his followers who hassled him for wearing an Atlanta Falcons hat.

“I can’t wear whatever I want,” an agitated Johnson tweeted back. “Whatever hat I want. I know what team I play for on Sunday. If you question that then that’s your fault.

Anybody that said stupid comments about my hat bout to get block. So if it’s you then. See ya!! RideorDie fans only on my twitter.”

Once Johnson threatened his followers with the hammer of god, they cooled down. We’ve been down this road several times before. Tom Brady has angered Boston-area fans by wearing San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees lids. Kevin Durant caused a stir by wearing a Chicago Bulls hat. But as Durant later explained, nobody ever wears a hat because of the team anymore. Guess that’s the way we have to look at it.

Panthers fans should also realize that Johnson is from Georgia and that he wears Braves hats. When he wears the Atlanta gear, he’s showing his support for his hometown more than their sports teams.

Why is Kevin Durant Rocking a Bulls Hat?

Does anyone else find this to be more than a little strange?  Like our friends over at CBSSports.com’s Eye on Basketball blog mentioned, there’s no need to get into an uproar over Kevin Durant wearing a Chicago Bulls hat.  He’s not leaving the Thunder to play for the Bulls because that’s not possible at this juncture.  He isn’t lashing out at the front office or trying to make a statement.  We know all that, but that doesn’t make it any less confusing.

Maybe Durant is basketball’s version of Tom Brady and likes to rock different hats depending on his mood — even if it means pissing off the hometown fans.  Or perhaps the hat has something to do with K.D.’s upcoming movie role.  At least when he got the Maryland back tattoo it made sense since Durant grew up in that area.  The Bulls hat is just puzzling.

The Many Faces of Tom Brady

To the left is a photo of Tom Brady wearing a San Francisco Giants hat at a Boston Celtics game, the same night he supposedly stole Leonardo DiCaprio’s seat at The Garden.  Does that make any sense at all?  Not really.  Did it piss Boston fans off?  Kind of, but who cares about the Giants and they (we) understand Brady was born and raised there so I guess it’s nothing too serious.  If you want to root for a team who’s lone shining star the past decade is Captain Juice Head himself, then that’s fine with us.  I mean it’s not like it’s a Yankees hat or anything.  He’s not congratulating Kobe Bryant after a Game 3 victory over the Celtics, so what’s the big deal?  Nothing much to see here, so let’s move along.

To the right, is a photo of Tom Brady wearing a New York Yankees hat.  Now that, my friends, is a big problem.  Boston fans don’t care where you’re from or which one of their (our) team’s you play for.  If you’re a Yankees fan — keep it to yourself.  If you’re the star quarterback of a Patriots team that won three Super Bowls in four years and millions of people consider you to be a hero — definitely keep it to yourself.  Oh well.  We got over it.  If Brady wants to root for the Yankees, he can go ahead.  He doesn’t play for the Red Sox, he plays for the New England Patriots, so I guess we’ll get over it.  Still, it’s not like he’s joking around with and high-fiving Kobe Bryant at a Celtics NBA Finals game in Boston after a crushing Game 3 loss that causes Celtics fans to start wondering whether or not they still have a shot at a title.
