Adam Jones gets standing ovation from Red Sox fans (Video)
One night after he was taunted with racial slurs and dealt with what he described as the worst fan abuse of his career, Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones received a standing ovation from the fans at Fenway Park.
In his first at-bat of the game Tuesday night, Jones received a prolonged round of applause from Boston Red Sox fans after pitcher Chris Sale stepped off the mound to let him have his moment.

As you can see, Mookie Betts also removed his cap and was clapping out in right field. Earlier in the day, Betts reminded Red Sox fans on Twitter that he, too, is African-American and asked them to stand up for Jones.
It’s despicable that a fan or group of fans crossed the line while heckling Jones. Unfortunately, Boston has a reputation for crossing the line with opposing players. Despite that, the fans who gave Jones a warm reception on Tuesday showed class.
