Report: Addison Russell considering request for emergency hearing
Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell, currently on administrative leave as the league investigates abuse claims made against him, is looking for a quick resolution to his situation.
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Russell and his agent, Scott Boras, are considering using the option of requesting an emergency hearing to resolve his status as quickly as possible.
MLB’s domestic-violence policy allows #Cubs’ Russell to request emergency hearing that must take place within 24 hours of him asking to be removed from administrative leave. Sources say Russell, his agent Scott Boras and the players’ union are strongly considering that option.

Russell is currently on administrative leave after his ex-wife Melisa Reidy went into detail about alleged instances of violence and abuse she suffered at Russell’s hands. The league investigated last year, but Reidy did not cooperate and nothing came of it. A new investigation has been opened in light of the latest information.
