Texas Rangers DH Andrew McCutchen launched his first home run of the 2026 MLB season on Sunday, and he did it apologetically against a former team.
McCutchen hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning of Sunday’s game between the Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pa. After touching home plate, on-field mics picked up a Phillies fan yelling “Cutch, you’ve got to be kidding me.”
McCutchen heard it too, and he offered up a response.
“I’m sorry,” he grinned with his arms outstretched.

McCutchen played for the Phillies from 2019 to 2021. He had a few solid years there, including a 27-home run campaign in 2021.
There still seems to be some mutual respect between McCutchen and Phillies fans. That is not necessarily true of everyone who returns to Philadelphia.
