Aroldis Chapman reportedly seeking $100 million contract

Aroldis Chapman Cubs

Aroldis Chapman is soon to be a free agent, and he’s expecting a significant payday wherever he goes.

According to Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago, one agent at the general manager meetings said Chapman is looking for $100 million deal once he hits the open market.

The Chicago Cubs, his former team, likely will not be in the running. General manager Jed Hoyer said the team would assess all options, but expressed an interest in finding controllable, more under the radar bullpen additions.

Chapman will be hoping for a bidding war, particularly between some of the bigger budget teams. If he can get this team and this team to follow up on their interest, he’ll probably be happy with what comes of it.
