Report: Astros showing interest in Miguel Cabrera, Edwin Encarnacion
The Houston Astros want to make a big splash this offseason, and they’re looking at two of the biggest bats in baseball to do it.
According to FOX Sports’s Jon Morosi, the Astros are likely to pursue Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera or free agent Edwin Encarnacion, with money to spend.
#Astros will pursue Miguel Cabrera or Edwin Encarnacion. Payroll increase is coming. They have only two players signed beyond 2017. @MLB

Encarnacion is the easier proposition. He’s going to be a free agent, so the only thing Houston will have to commit with regards to him is the money.
Cabrera, however, is intriguing. The Detroit Tigers have indicated they are willing to consider offers for pretty much anyone, even their star first baseman. Cabrera could veto any trade, but he’d be an enormous get for Houston. That said, he would probably come with a hefty price tag in terms of players going the other way.
