Stop us if you have heard this one before, but a Houston Astros player is being investigated over a potential instance of cheating.
Astros outfielder Taylor Trammell was up to bat during the ninth inning of Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees at Daikin Park in Houston, Tex. With his team down 8-3, Trammell proceeded to club a double off the left field wall.
After Trammell’s double, Yankees manager Aaron Boone asked for Trammell’s bat to be checked. The bat apparently had a suspicious marking on it, and the Yankees wanted the umpiring crew to take a look.
The game was then briefly delayed while the umpires took time to inspect Trammell’s bat. Here is the video.

In the end, the umpiring crew did not find anything wrong with Trammell’s bat on the spot, and play then resumed with Trammell at second base. However, the bat was confiscated and brought to the back, apparently for further review after the game.
The Yankees held on to win Thursday’s game by a 8-4 final score. However, all eyes will now turn to the bat of Trammell, a .208 hitter this season who was making just his 44th appearance of the year for the Astros.
Trammell, 27, is in his fifth MLB season and already went viral in the past over his unique bat flips. Now Trammell is making headlines with his bat once again, albeit for much more suspicious reasons.
