Athletics 3B accidentally stole Kevin Durant’s parking spot

Kevin Durant may have brought an NBA title and a Finals MVP to the Bay Area, but he apparently still has a bit of respect to command around there.

During the broadcast of Sunday’s exhibition between the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dallas Braden revealed on the air that A’s third baseman Matt Chapman accidentally stole a parking spot belonging to Durant that morning. This was according to Cut4’s Adrian Garro, who noted that the A’s and the Golden State Warriors have “similar parking areas that funnel players into their respective clubhouses.”

The Warriors also played at home in Oakland on Sunday, falling to the Utah Jazz 110-91. However, tipoff was not until 5:30 PM — well after the adjacent game at the Coliseum at 1:05 PM and more than enough time for the 24-year-old Chapman to swipe the parking spot of a resident four-time scoring champ.

It sounds like Chapman just made an honest mistake here. But nevertheless, those spots can be serious business. Just ask this fellow MLB youngster.
