Jose Fernandez had used alcohol and cocaine before his fatal boat crash in September, according to an autopsy report released Saturday.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Fernandez’s blood alcohol content was .14, almost twice the legal limit of .08. The other two men on the boat, Emilio Jesus Macias, and Eduardo Rivero, also had alcohol in their systems, though both were slightly below the legal limit.
Amanda Batchelor of WPLG Local 10 in Miami reports that cocaine was also found in Rivero’s system, but not Macias’s.

It was already publicly confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the crash that killed all three men. It remains unclear who was driving the boat at the time of the accident.
