Reinforcements are coming for the Toronto Blue Jays for the World Series. The main reinforcement’s name? Bo Bichette.
The Blue Jays left their star shortstop off the roster for both the ALDS and ALCS due to a lingering left knee injury. With Toronto able to extend its postseason run sans Bichette, the team afforded him enough time to recover off the field.
The patience has paid off, as Bichette revealed Monday that he expects to suit up for the World Series. Speaking to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi during the locker room celebration, the two-time All-Star did not mince words when asked if he’ll be available to play in the Fall Classic beginning Friday.
“Yeah, I’ll be ready,” Bichette told Morosi. “I’ll be ready. I’m good.”

The Blue Jays moved second baseman Andres Gimenez to shortstop in Bichette’s absence and plugged in backup Isiah Kiner-Falefa at the other middle infield spot for most of the series. Kiner-Falefa filled in admirably for Bichette, recording five hits, three runs, and an RBI in his five games played in the ALCS.
But IKF is no BB. Bichette was arguably the Blue Jays’ third-most lethal bat this season behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer. He had a .311 batting average with 18 home runs, 94 RBIs, and an OPS of .840 across 139 regular season games.
With the Blue Jays facing a Los Angeles Dodgers team in the World Series led by the cyborg known to us humans as Shohei Ohtani, Toronto will welcome all the help they can get.
