The Toronto Blue Jays are remembering late shortstop Tony Fernandez with a nice gesture for their spring training opener.
The Blue Jays are wearing black armbands on Saturday against the New York Yankees in honor of Fernandez, who died last week due to complications from kidney disease.
For you, Tony

We don’t know if the Blue Jays will wear these through spring or into the regular season, but it’s a good move to honor Fernandez. He spent 12 years with the organization and won the 1993 World Series with them, and still ranks as the all-time franchise leader in WAR among position players. That led to plenty of tributes to him after his death, and the Blue Jays are offering their own here.
