Brewers owner flew Christian Yelich to Cincinnati so he could celebrate with team

Christian Yelich

Many in the media thought the Milwaukee Brewers were toast as soon as Christian Yelich got injured, but the opposite turned out to be true.

The Brewers have gone 17-2 in their last 19 games and surged ahead in the standings. Their 9-2 win over the Reds on Wednesday allowed them to clinch their second straight playoff berth.

One of the cool stories about their clinched berth is that Yelich was able to celebrate with the team thanks to owner Mark Attanasio, who flew the reigning NL MVP to Cincinnati with him.

Yelich suffered a broken kneecap on September 10. Before that he was putting together another MVP-caliber season and helping to carry the team. They have pulled through and are still fighting to win even more, like the NL Central.

The Brewers have used their bullpen more than any other team in baseball. Will they be able to keep it up being used like that? That’s a huge question that will dictate whether they can duplicate last year’s NLCS appearance, or even more.
