Watch: Bruce Bochy gets massive ovation in final Giants home opener
Friday was Bruce Bochy’s final home opener as manager of the San Francisco Giants, and the fans responded in kind.
When Bochy was introduced during the starting lineups, he received a standing ovation from the San Francisco crowd that lasted well over a minute. The manager looked slightly embarrassed and emotional as he repeatedly tipped his cap to the fans, and ultimately they only moved on when announcer Jon Miller essentially forced them to at Bochy’s insistence.

Bochy has announced his retirement effective at the end of the season. He led the Giants to three World Series titles — no small feat anywhere, but especially impressive for an organization that hadn’t won a championship since moving to San Francisco.
