Carl Crawford forgot how to slide over the winter (Video)
Carl Crawford is known for his speed, so sliding into second base should be nothing new for the Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder. Still, guys can get rusty over the winter. That’s what spring training is for.
Crawford was running with a pitch on Wednesday that ended up being fouled off by Yasiel Puig. He started his head-first slide into second a bit early, which resulted in an awkward bellyflop. He also appeared to hit his face off the dirt.
After the game, Crawford didn’t mention the sliding play but said he felt some “tightness” in his quadriceps. He is out of the lineup for Thursday’s game, which is probably for the best. His ego could use more of a break than his legs.
