Blue Jays part ways with son of former MLB All-Star
Several years ago, the Toronto Blue Jays debuted several top prospects who had family ties to former MLB All-Stars. Now one of them is officially on his way out of the organization.
The Blue Jays announced Friday that they have designated infielder Cavan Biggio for assignment. The move means Biggio will likely depart the organization after parts of six seasons.

Biggio, the son of former Houston Astros All-Star Craig Biggio, came up through the Toronto system along with Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The three were often lumped together for their ties to former stars. Biggio impressed as a rookie, hitting for the cycle and appearing to have a bright future with the club, but he never really progressed as a hitter. He is batting just .200 this season and .227 for his career, and has contributed little power to go with it.
The struggling Blue Jays may have to make some big moves to try to salvage their season. That probably doesn’t mean dealing other members of their core, but Biggio might be the first domino to fall.
