Craig Biggio shares thoughts on son Cavan hitting for the cycle
17 years after father Craig hit for the cycle against the Colorado Rockies, son Cavan Biggio hit for the cycle in the Toronto Blue Jays’ 8-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.
Cavan went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBIs and two stolen bases against Baltimore. The game didn’t seem like it would end up being special when Biggio struck out in his first at-bat. But then he hit a 2-run home run in the third; a single in the sixth; a double in the eighth; and a two-run triple in the ninth to complete the third cycle in Blue Jays history.
Biggio’s mother was at the game to watch, but father Craig was not. The Hall of Famer offered his thoughts to MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart, calling what his son did “special.”
Craig Biggio on his son, Cavan, hitting for cycle: "This whole year has been hard to put into words and obviously your son to hit for the cycle in his first year in the big leagues — and his mom drove down there to watch him play — makes it even more special."

As rare and remarkable as Craig and Cavan being a father/son duo to hit for the cycle, they’re actually not the first. Gary and Daryle Ward also did it in 1980 and 2004.
