There is little doubt that Ruben Tejada got the worst end of his collision with Chase Utley during Game 2 of the NLDS between the Dodgers and Mets on Saturday. Now it appears that Utley avoided serious injury.
The LA Times’ Dylan Hernandez reports that Utley passed a concussion test after the game.

Utley barreled into Tejada during the seventh inning of the game to try breaking up a double play (video here). He did so successfully, and the umpires even perplexingly awarded him the base. Tejada left on a stretcher and it was later revealed that he suffered a broken leg.
Utley said after the game that he never intended to injure Tejada, which is believable based on what happened between them in 2010. The Dodgers infielder also says he reached out to the Mets’ David Wright to apologize to Tejada.
