Bringing back Yu Darvish would have allowed the Los Angeles Dodgers to keep together one of the most terrifying rotations in baseball for 2018 and beyond, but Darvish has instead signed with another National League contender. That makes Clayton Kershaw a tad nervous.
While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Kershaw was asked for his thoughts on Darvish joining the Chicago Cubs. The three-time Cy Young Award winner says he would have preferred if Darvish went to the American League.
Clayton Kershaw on Yu Darvish: “I wish he had gone somewhere in the American League. I guess we’ll just have to beat him now.”

The most surprising part about Darvish signing with the Cubs is that the Dodgers were reportedly in on the bidding right until the end, so it seems as though he chose a fresh start even after L.A. came just one win short of winning the World Series. As for why he opted to remain in the NL, that could have something to do with wanting to pitch in the NL and also the lack of offers he received.
