Dave Roberts made good on his bold prediction from April and needs to be recognized for it.
On Monday, the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched their sixth NL West title in a row with a 5-2 win over the Colorado Rockies in a tiebreaker game. Though they’re back as division champs once again, it’s easy to forget just how far they came this season.
The Dodgers started off the season poorly (2-6) and were 16-26 on May 16. Back in late April, the team was 12-14 when Roberts boldly promised the Dodgers would still win the division when all was said and done.
Dave Roberts: “When it’s all said and done, the Dodgers will be at the top of the division.”

It took 163 games, but he was proven right.
The Dodgers now will host the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS beginning at home on Thursday.
