Video shows David Ortiz being shot in the back at bar
Security footage from Dial Bar in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic has circulated on social media and shows David Ortiz being shot.
Ortiz was at a bar he frequents in his hometown and sitting on the patio with his back to the street on Sunday night. Video shows someone coming up from behind him at close range and shooting him in the lower back.

Reports have since said that Ortiz and his friend Jhoel Lopez were taken to a medical center for treatment. Lopez was said to have been wounded in the leg and seemed to be doing well. Ortiz was shot in the back and the bullet exited through his abdomen. He underwent surgery but was said to be in stable condition.
One report from the Dominican Republic outlet CDN reported that witnesses said two men on a motorcycle came up and one shot Ortiz.
Initial reports said Ortiz was shot in a robbery attempt, but a police chief later said that was not the case.

Dial Bar is an open air type of place and Ortiz seems to frequent it.

This video shows Ortiz at some point in the evening before the shooting, seeming to match up with the security footage.

Ortiz was said to have been out of danger following his surgery.
The 43-year-old Boston Red Sox legend is from Santo Domingo. He was a 10-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion.
