Report: David Ortiz in stable condition after being shot in abdomen
David Ortiz is said to be stable but undergoing surgery after being shot in the abdomen on Sunday night in his native Dominican Republic.
Reports emerged out of the Dominican Republic that Ortiz had been shot while at a bar/club in Santo Domingo, his hometown. Not much information was available at the time except that he was taken away for emergency medical attention.
A report initially said Ortiz was shot in the leg, but later reports said he was actually shot in the abdomen, with the bullet entering through his back and exiting through his abdomen.

The confusion about Ortiz being shot in the leg may have been because the man he was with, TV personality Jhoel Lopez, was reportedly shot in the leg. Lopez was later shown to be fine.
Reporter Santiago Matias said that both men were in stable condition.

Ortiz reportedly was conscious and talking when he arrived to the health center.

According to CDN, two men on a motorcycle were responsible for the robbery attempt.
