Derek Jeter not interested in managing Yankees for last game of his career
Derek Jeter said after his last home game on Thursday that he was done playing shortstop. With no defense to worry about, would that mean Jeter was up for another challenge?
Not quite.
According to Yankees reporter Bryan Hoch, Jeter was offered the opportunity to manage the Yankees on Sunday, which will be the last game of his career, and didn’t seem interested.

That shouldn’t be too surprising. Jeter has previously said he’s not interested in managing after he’s done playing. Plus, he has a lot of respect for the game and those who work in it, so he probably would view it as improper to act as manager when he’s really just a player … and when the team already has a manager.
We all know that Jeter doesn’t want his last impression to be of him filling out a lineup card, anyway.
