Didi Gregorius nearing return to Yankees

Didi Gregorius is nearing a return to the New York Yankees as he continues to rehab from Tommy John surgery.
The shortstop is set to begin a rehab assignment for the Yankees’ Single-A team in Tampa on Saturday. Manager Aaron Boone said on Friday that “there is a good chance” Gregorius returns to the team in fewer than 20 days.

Why did Boone mention 20 days? 20 days is how long position players get in the minors on rehab assignments, while pitchers get 30 days.
The big deal is that Gregorius is already playing the field rather than solely serving as a designated hitter. He underwent Tommy John surgery in mid-October.
The 29-year-old shortstop hit .268/.335/.494 last year with 27 home runs. The homers, on-base percentage and slugging percentage were all career-high marks.
