FOX announcer Joe Davis on Friday had the perfect tribute to legendary Los Angeles Dodgers announcer Vin Scully.

Davis was on the call for Game 1 of the World Series between the Dodgers and the New York Yankees at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.

With the Yankees leading 3-2, Freddie Freeman came up to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning. The 2020 NL MVP launched the first pitch he saw from Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes to the right field seats for a walk-off grand slam.

Davis channeled his inner Vin Scully to make the call on Freeman’s home run.

“Freeman hits a ball to right field. She is gone! Gibby, meet Freddie! Game 1 of the World Series!” said Davis before letting the stadium noise sing on the broadcast.

Scully famously made a similar call 36 years ago when Dodgers icon Kirk Gibson smashed a solo home run to right field to walk off Game 1 of the 1988 World Series against the Oakland Athletics. Scully’s “she is gone” call was clearly on Davis’ mind when Freeman hit Friday’s walk-off blast.

The moment could not have lined up more perfectly for Davis, who also serves as the Dodgers’ regular season play-by-play announcer for SportsNet LA.

The Dodgers were one out away from losing Game 1 after a tremendous play from Alex Verdugo got Shohei Ohtani out in foul territory. Freeman instead gave Davis the call of a lifetime one pitch later.
