There’s no stopping the Los Angeles Dodgers from spending on players like they’re funding a space program.
According to FanGraphs, the reigning World Series champions have a projected payroll of $394 million for the 2026 MLB season after they made huge splashes in free agency.
Already stacked with incredible talent, Los Angeles made it rain by winning the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes and bolstering their bullpen by adding Edwin Diaz.
The Dodgers’ offseason spending may have infuriated many in the baseball world and fans of rival clubs alike, but for Manny Machado of the San Diego Padres and Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles is a prime example of how a team should be run.
While speaking to reporters on Monday at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz., Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes addressed the positive comments made by Harper and Machado about LA.
“We’re not looking externally for the validation,” Gomes told reporters, via Dodgers Nation. “The validation is winning championships and putting out as good of teams as we can each and every year.”
Harper’s Phillies and Machado’s Padres aren’t shabby spenders either, as Philadelphia and San Diego are fifth and ninth in projected 2026 payroll, respectively, but the Dodgers take breaking the bank to a whole new level.
Winning in baseball always comes at a price, and for the Dodgers, there seems to be no amount they aren’t willing to meet if it means shoring up their world-beating roster.
