Dodgers playoff hero Miguel Rojas falls victim to crazy mistake by reporter

Miguel Rojas must have gotten quite the scare when he woke up this morning.

On Monday, the news broke that Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas had been suspended for 80 games by Major League Baseball. Johan reportedly failed a PED test after testing positive for the drug Boldenone.

Unfortunately though, Evan Drellich of The Athletic made quite the mistake while sharing the news. Drellich mistakenly posted on X that it was the Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Rojas who had been suspended instead.

After a few minutes, Drellich deleted the post and issued a clarification that it was actually Johan Rojas who had gotten suspended.

I’ve deleted a post incorrectly identifying who was suspended today. It was Johan Rojas of the Philadelphia Phillies who was suspended.

The Internet promptly roasted Drellich with a number of Miguel Rojas-related posts.

The Dodgers’ Rojas is a serious fan favorite right now in Los Angeles due to his heroics in the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. With the Dodgers facing elimination in the ninth inning of Game 7, Rojas (the No. 9 hitter) smacked an improbable game-tying home run off Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman. The Dodgers then prevailed in extra innings by a final score of 5-4 to capture their second straight World Series title.

While Miguel Rojas is a 13-year MLB veteran whose clutch home run made him one of the most identifiable role players in the sport today, Johan Rojas is only a three-year MLB veteran who has made just 250 total appearances in the big leagues. As such, that was definitely a big mistake for Drellich to make with his reporting on Monday.
