Yankees’ Edwin Encarnacion placed on IL with fractured wrist
Every time it seems as though they might be getting healthy, the New York Yankees find themselves facing another injury.
Edwin Encarnacion was hit by a pitch on the right wrist during Saturday’s game against the Boston Red Sox. After the game, he was placed on the 10-day IL with a fractured right wrist.
Encarnacion has a fractured right wrist and was placed on the IL, Yankees say. Mike Ford has been called up from AAA.

There is no word on a timetable for the injury, but given the importance of the wrist for hitting, this one might be a while. He hit .223 with nine home runs since being acquired from Seattle in mid-June, serving primarily as a DH.
While pitching has primarily been the issue for the Yankees of late, losing a regular in the lineup is never ideal, especially if it turns out to be a few weeks or more.
