Felipe Vazquez facing 21 new charges in child sex case
Pittsburgh Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez is in even deeper legal trouble after a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
Vazquez, who was already facing charges relating to alleged sexual involvement with a child, is now facing 21 new charges in the state of Pennsylvania. Those charges include 10 counts of child pornography and 10 more of unlawful contact, according to KDKA in Pittsburgh.
Investigators who seized electronic devices from Vazquez’s Pittsburgh home allegedly found photographs and videos of an underage female in “various stages of nudity.”
Vazquez had already been facing charges of statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and unlawful contact in Pennsylvania. He is also facing charges in Florida, where other incidents are alleged to have happened. These new charges are similar to ones he was already facing in that state.
The details of Vazquez’s alleged transgressions are deeply disturbing. Vazquez is on administrative leave from the Pirates, but that’s the least of his worries at this point, as he faces potential deportation if convicted.
