Fernando Tatis Jr. has one of smoothest bat flips of all-time on walk-off HR

Fernando Tatis Jr flipping his bat

Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a walk-off home run on Tuesday night and managed to gain infinite style points in the process.

The San Diego Padres star outfielder Tatis was the hero during his team’s game against the Los Angeles Angels at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif. Trailing 4-2 going into the eighth inning, San Diego struck back against the Angels bullpen with two runs in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game and two runs in the bottom of the ninth to win it.

Those two runs in the bottom of the ninth came courtesy of Tatis. On a 2-2 pitch from Angels reliever Kenley Jansen with one on and nobody out, Tatis shot one 430 feet to left-center field for the good-nighter.

Adding to the aura of the walk-off homer was the bat flip that Tatis uncorked after his swing. In one of the absolute smoothest sequences ever, Tatis gracefully lofted the bat away, seemingly all in one motion with the follow-through from his swing. Here is the fantastic video.

Tatis had walked twice prior to that but had yet to produce a hit on the evening. That all changed in a hurry during the biggest moment of the game though with Tatis depositing his 11th home run of the season deep into the San Diego night. Overall this year, the multi-time All-Star Tatis is now hitting .316 with an impressive .963 OPS.

If you are a fan of walk-offs, Tuesday was definitely the night for you. In addition to Tatis’ walk-off dinger, the Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, and Detroit Tigers all produced walk-offs on Tuesday evening within just four minutes of each other.
