Report: All four teams with managerial openings interested in Alex Cora

It certainly sounds likely that, before the month of November is out, Houston Astros bench coach Alex Cora will be a big-league manager.

The 14-year MLB veteran is reportedly of interest to all four teams who currently have a managerial vacancy, with the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, New York Mets, and Philadelphia Phillies all interested in interviewing Cora, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Cora, who played for both the Mets and Red Sox during his playing days, has interviewed for managerial jobs before in previous offseasons, including with the Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Cora spent the first four years of his retirement as a broadcaster and is finishing up his first and only year as Astros bench coach — a lack of experience that could work against him. However, he does have a strong recommendation from his boss, and lots of interest.
