Report: AJ Hinch gave Alex Cora strong recommendation for Red Sox manager
Alex Cora may be emerging as a favorite for the next Boston Red Sox manager.
Veteran baseball writer Peter Gammons reported on Saturday that Houston Astros manager A.J. Hinch gave Cora, currently a bench coach for the Astros, a strong recommendation to Sox president Dave Dombrowski for the position.

Cora, 41, has also been linked to another managerial opening recently. But he has no prior experience as a skipper, and indications earlier this week were that the Red Sox are also considering a more seasoned candidate. Still, the fact that Hinch is recommending Cora to a major American League rival (and one his team just beat in the ALDS no less) is a rather interesting development.
