The Colorado Rockies continue to show they will be a factor in the NL wild-card race.
The Rockies on Thursday beat the San Diego Padres 4-3 on a walk-off, 2-run home run by Ian Desmond in the bottom of the 9th. Desmond yanked a 1-0 pitch deep to left at Coors Field to win the game with the Rockies down to their last out.

That was a big win for the Rockies, who remain in the lead for one of the wild-card spots. They took 2 of 3 from the Padres, which came on the heels of a 4-game sweep of the Braves. They are 10-2 since Aug. 10.
