Just under three months after being diagnosed with leukemia, Carlos Carrasco will likely be activated by the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
Manager Terry Francona made the announcement Wednesday, and will pitch out of the bullpen going forward.

As Francona notes, the emotional lift that this provides will be palpable. Carrasco being able to resume his career, even out of the bullpen, this soon after such a major diagnosis is remarkable. Any meaningful on-field contribution he can provide is just a bonus.
Carrasco became a full-time starter in 2015. From that point through the end of 2018, he’s been one of the best, posting a 3.40 ERA over that four-year span.
