Report: Indians have looked into signing Edwin Encarnacion
Edwin Encarnacion may have a new suitor.
According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports, the Cleveland Indians have checked in on Encarnacion.
Sources: Cleveland has checked in on Edwin Encarnacion. Perfect fit as RH power in LH-heavy lineup. Question is: Would they spend the money?

On paper, Encarnacion would be a replacement for Mike Napoli, who is a free agent that the team may not be successful in bringing back. The question, as Passan notes, is whether Cleveland is willing to pay up. Toronto’s supposed offer is probably a simple baseline for what he’s expecting to get, and Cleveland is not an organization that has really played the high-priced free agent game. That said, with no obvious front-runner for Encarnacion and a possible roster spot for him, it behooves the American League champions to at least check in.
