Report: Indians, Nationals have discussed Bryce Harper trade
The Washington Nationals and Cleveland Indians have reportedly discussed what would be the biggest deal of the summer.
According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Nationals and Indians have discussed a potential trade centering around Bryce Harper, but there is little momentum in talks and a trade appears unlikely.
In return for Harper, the Nationals would ask for multiple pitchers, a very high asking price for a player in Harper who would likely be a rental.
In short, it appears that the Nationals are exploring all their options. They’re still in the market for upgrades, but they’re also checking in on the Harper market despite their public proclamations that he is off the table. For Cleveland, the appeal is obvious, as Harper is a star who would immediately improve their outfield offense, even if he isn’t producing at the level he has in the past this season.
