Jason Vargas lost track of the count during his first at-bat of Game 3 of the World Series Saturday and tried to pull the old take first on ball 3 move. Unfortunately, he got busted and had a great expression when he realized he had the wrong count.
It looked like Vargas was playing a game of freeze tag or something the way he stopped dead in his tracks.
His teammates and franchise icon George Brett loved it:
Considering Vargas pitches in the AL and that was his first at-bat of the season, we’ll give him a break. It’s also worth noting that he made two of the Royals’ three outs of a 4-run third inning. Having AL teams play in an NL park definitely makes a difference.
