Jessica Mendoza replaces Curt Schilling on ‘Sunday Night Baseball’
Curt Schilling’s loss is Jessica Mendoza’s gain.
ESPN announced Thursday that they have essentially suspended Schilling for the rest of the season after he stirred some controversies over social media. Mendoza, a retired fastpitch softball player-turned-broadcaster, replaced him on the “Sunday Night Baseball” telecast last weekend and will continue in that role for the rest of the season, ESPN announced Friday.

There are two things to be addressed here. One, ESPN is really going overboard with Schilling, and it’s excessive and unnecessary. I’m still waiting for them to dump Cris Carter, who encouraged NFL rookies to break the law, and is also a HORRIBLE analyst. Two, congratulations to Mendoza. Forget about her gender; she knows a lot about the game and simply provides good commentary. Listening to her, I felt like I was just hearing from someone who knows the game well, and that’s what you want out of an analyst. Now as far as trying to force her onto football games, I can do without that …
