Joe Maddon could appear in episode of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’

Tuesday’s announcement that “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is returning for a ninth season was tremendous news for the show’s loyal following, but Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon is much more excited than the average Larry David fan. And why wouldn’t he be?

Jeff Garlin, who co-stars and produces Curb with David, is a huge Cubs fan. He promised Maddon a cameo appearance in the show if it ever returned, and it sounds like Maddon is going to hold Garlin to it.

“His people have not reached out to my people yet,” the 62-year-old manager said before Tuesday’s game, via Patrick Mooney of CSNChicago.com. “I have not been contacted yet. I haven’t seen Jeff in a while, so we haven’t communicated. We’re all happy that it’s coming back, man. It’s still the best. It’s absolutely the best.

“If (Jeff) said he’s going to make it happen, we’ll make it happen.”

Garlin said Tuesday that the ninth season of Curb will begin filming in January and February. That could be a tough time for Maddon with spring training just getting underway, but he joked he is confident bench coach Dave Martinez can cover for him.

Maddon, with his infectious personality and love of themed road trips, would fit right in. Don’t be surprised to see him make a brief appearance in Season 9.
