It’s safe to say Joe Maddon has big plans for the Los Angeles Angels.
In his first conference call since being named Angels’ manager, Maddon said he intends to implement an “Angels Method” akin to what former managers emphasized.
Instead of ‘The Cubs Way,’ Joe Maddon is already talking about the 'Angels Method,’ which he described as follows:
"Playing a specific style of baseball, which really started with (Mike) Scioscia and before that with Marcel (Lachemann), and before that with Gene Mauch."

This is probably what the Angels were hoping for when they hired Maddon given his deep ties to the organization. Before becoming manager of the Tampa Bay Rays prior to the 2006 season, Maddon had spent three decades in the Angels’ organization. He was deeply familiar with the coaches and system in place there, and given Scioscia’s success at the helm, it’s probably a worthwhile system.
Maddon’s return to the organization and the effort to get back to the old days may involve old coaches coming back to the organization as well.
