When Bryce Harper said he wanted to make baseball fun again, his statement had far-reaching effects. In fact, Joey Votto says he has taken Harper’s advice.
Votto homered in the first inning of the Reds’ victory over the Brewers on Friday and did a jump celebration with teammate Brandon Phillips, who follows him in the batting order:

That jump celebration between the two longtime Reds teammates is a new thing for them and something Votto attributes to a looser attitude based on Harper’s advice.

Say what you want about him, but it’s clear that despite being so young, Harper is influential and changing the game. Even veteran players are following his lead. And what’s so wrong with making the game fun?
