Jose Bautista shattered light bulb in Fenway Park sign (Video)

To the left of Fenway Park’s signature Green Monster is a Coca-Cola sign above the upper deck. Thanks to Jose Bautista, it now needs a new light bulb.

During the fourth inning of Tuesday’s game between the Red Sox and Blue Jays, Bautista launched a ball down the third base line that reached the brightly lit sign. It didn’t just hit the sign, the baseball completely shattered one of the bulbs in it.

As noted on the broadcast, Bautista got the pitch he was looking for and didn’t miss putting it over the Green Monster by much. No telling how far the ball would’ve traveled had that pesky sign not been in the way to impede its progress.

Last weekend, Adrian Beltre sent Garrett Richards an invoice for three bats the Angels pitcher broke of his during a game. Perhaps Bautista can expect one on Red Sox letterhead in the near future for the damage he caused on Tuesday.
